Say It Ain't So

It's hard not to be hopeful when I see the tell-tale signs of a new restaurant opening in the 'hood. So, spying a restaurant called Reginella in the works on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights made my heart go pitter-pat.

Not that there aren't scads of top-notch Italian options in brownstone Brooklyn, but a fresh new take on Italia is always welcome.

Unfortunately, however, it doesn't seem like the fates will deliver on that wish. After a bit of research online, I learned that the cast and crew behind the Yemeni restaurant that used to occupy the space is simply reinventing themselves with a renovation and Italian-sounding name.

Harumph!

I'll give it a chance, because you never know, but I do hafta wonder if should I be looking forward to some sort of bizarre fusion fare that'll have me trying Veal Parmigiana served in Pita instead of a Hero roll. Then again, that doesn't sound too dreadful...
