Cocktail with a Coffee Kick

Cocktails. Coffee. Two great tastes. And, apparently they actually do go together.

Gary Regan's latest column for The San Francisco Chronicle goes into the caffeinated cocktail particulars. This time around his mythical alter-ego "The Professor" takes his cues from a New York hot spot, Brasserie 8 1/2 (pictured above), and learns about the mysterious ways of their Coco Cocktail.

The recipe, coincidentally enough, is compliments of an acquaintance of The Vamp, 8 1/2's bar manager Cory Hill:

Coco Cocktail

INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces Pisco brandy

1 ounce chocolate liqueur, such as Godiva, Mozart or Vermeer

1 ounce chilled espresso or 1 1/2 ounces coffee liqueur

1 lemon twist, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:
Fill a cocktail shaker two-thirds full of ice and add Pisco brandy, chocolate liqueur and coffee.

Shake for approximately 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and add the garnish.
