Freshman Issues with FreshDirect

Had ordered a good bulk of my aforementioned Yom Kippur break-the-fast smoked fish-fest from FreshDirect. The company had just expanded its service in my nabe and was offering $50 of free food with your first order of $100 or more. Considering the high price of smoked fish these days, I figured that Yom Kippur was the perfect opportunity to give them a try. I was wrong.

If you take a look at this recent posting and subsequent string on Chowhound, you'll be able to get all the details. In short, the problem was shoddy customer service response to not one - but two problems.

But, in a turnaround, after sending a note to the company's customer service e-mail, cc-ing FreshDirect President Jason Ackerman, I received a voicemail message from Ackerman this morning. Gotta say that I'm duly impressed. Frankly, the head of a company usually does care a great deal more about pleasing customers than anyone else. But still, he could have just sent me a quick note. Instead, at this point Ackerman and I are playing telephone tag. He's "it" at the moment. Promise to update. Very curious about his response to the whole matter.
