Chelsea Market: Chelsea Thai Wholesale

I had been warned. I should have heeded. Colleagues had let it be known that the Thai fare at Chelsea Thai Wholesale wasn't up to par. A lunchtime purchase of insipid, floppy Pad Thai (pictured above) was confirmation.

I had longed for spice and a hit of sweet tamarind. Instead, I got bland with an over-sure toss of salt for good measure.

That said, after peeking into the kitchen and seeing the line of cooks adeptly steaming, wok-frying and sauteing, I do feel that they deserve another chance.
