Dehydrated Deliciousness
Walking down Chinatown's Bayard Street, I was captivated by a sign that read "New Beef King."
I have absolutely no idea if there was ever an old Beef King, but I decided to enter the humble storefront nonetheless. Once through the tiny shop's doors, I was surrounded by two glass cases packed with a bizarre selection of Hong Kong-style jerky: Fruit Flavored Beef Jerky, Curry Beef Jerky, Oyster Sauce Beef Jerky...and the list of dried meat delights went on.
All very intriguing, but swine fan that I am, the bovine didn't stand a chance. Ultimately, it was a tray of glossy red Pork Strip Jerky that captured my attention and my wallet. Pictured above, it was the kind of flavorful snack that screams for some serious beer to help wash down all of its chewy, barbecued goodness. I made do with a Diet Coke.
That said, expect some Hong Kong-style Pork Strip Jerky to make the rounds as holiday gifts from The Vamp this year. After all, what says "Season's Greetings" more than a bag of desiccated pig?
