Dangerous Desire
Another week. Another New York Times Book Review section. Yet, I'm still holding onto - still resisting the pull of - last week's issue. The focal point?
C'mon. You should know me by now...
It was the Food Issue. And, it was chock-a-block with articles, reviews of cookbooks and food memoirs.
It made me want to log onto Amazon and order the whole lot of them. But, I haven't - as of yet. I own plenty of cookbooks. I shouldn't need more. Should I?
The fact is, I live in a modest Brooklyn apartment. I have just so much room to accomodate a collection of tomes. I think this is a common issue among New Yorkers. To buy the book, or not to buy the book? To move to a bigger apartment to accomodate a library or not to move into a bigger apartment - and thereby still be able to afford the recipe ingredients listed in your new cookbooks?
New York City: It's a taut tightrope of compromise.
