Le Bon Temp vs. Le Bon Bod

I know I should be good. If not good, at least better in terms of my eating habits. It's not that I sit down and eat pints of Haagen Daz Black Cherry Ice Cream, but I'm definitely not one of those ladies that calculates how many calories she's ingested throughout the day.

I like to think there is a middle ground. And, the magazine Women's Health gave me a glimmer hope with a recent article entitled "The Cheetos Diet," in which the editors don't condone foodie excess, but instead offer a couple tricks to balance out the day's sins.

All well and good...until my friend Keith suggested that we cook up a Mardi Gras feast with our mutual acquaintance Cajun Boy!

To heck with Women's Health! There is nothing short of a week's worth of fasting to balance out the sin that is Mardi Gras.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) for me, Cajun Boy is going to be on the road for Mardi Gras. But next Sunday I'm going to try my hand at a Cajun/Creole meal nonetheless. Not sure when I'm gonna fit in the weeklong fast to balance out my bod, but no matter what, I plan on making the meal well worth it!

Then, just to make Le Bon Temp last a little longer, I'm gonna partake in Slow Food's Fat Tuesday celebration at Brooklyn Brewery on the 28th, featuring Boudin Noir, Wild Louisiana Shrimp Etouffee and Grits, House Smoked Pulled Pork on Mini Potato Rolls with Coleslaw, Jambalaya, Oysters On the Half-Shell, and Pralines.

Hmm...Maybe I had better make that two weeks of fasting...
