The next day wasn't really about me. But, heck, it was the day before my actual birthday, so why not? In actuality it was really about my company's holiday hoedown - or as my Southern Fried friend and colleague Kurt declared - ho down.

The place? Danny Meyer's ode to BBQ, Blue Smoke (pictured above). And, gotta admit that the spot was perfect - from the rich Deviled Eggs with Toasted Almonds and Watercress to the buttery soft Sliced Texas-Style Beef Brisket and the Hush Puppies, crisp and bursting with sweet corn flavor, served with Jalape
