Who Knew?

Apparently, July is Lasagna Awareness Month. It is also National Baked Beans Month and National Hot Dog Month .

In addition, today is National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day. And, tomorrow we have National Sugar Cookie Day to look forward to.

What does that mean for you and me? Quite possibly indigestion.

But, here's my real question: What government official gets to receive my hard-earned tax dollars to declare "National" months, weeks and days in the name of anything - let alone Lasagna Awareness.

And, while we're on the topic: What the heck is Lasagna Awareness anyway? Are we supposed be aware that lasagna exists as a tasty culinary delight or as an evil caloric monster of a casserole? There's no indication anywhere on the Net.

Any help from readers on either score would be greatly appreciated.
