Milk Can Do A Body Bad?
Just found this bizarre press release from a group that calls itself the Center for Consumer Freedom, trying head a Center for Science in the Public Interest report off at the pass:
Attention parents and teachers! America's food zealots have added whole and two-percent milk to the list of "poor nutritional quality" beverages in their crosshairs, and are recommending their removal from America's schools. This and other ridiculous proposals are contained in a report scheduled for release tomorrow on Capitol Hill by the self-described "food police" at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). CSPI leads an anti-soda crusade which advocates taxing soft drinks and restricting their availability in order to eliminate fizzy beverages from the diets of both children and adults.
A quick Internet search later, and I am quite certain that I just caught a public relations jab in a knock-down, drag-out, honest-to-goodness Capitol Hill lobbying fight.
The CSPI has this on their site:
The dairy industry uses its lobbying muscle to make it harder for schools to serve only low-fat milk, even though whole and 2% milk are by far the largest sources of saturated fat in children
