Jewish Penicillin in a NY Minute

The food editors at Newsday have taken sympathy on New Yorkers who are feeling the current chill - or picking up the common cold - by taste testing 11 ready-made chicken soup varieties. Here are some of their comments:

1. Lipton Soup Secrets Chicken Noodle (dehydrated) - "Light, mild and neutral."

2. Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup (canned) - "Chicken-y, not bad."

3. Campbell's Select Chicken With Egg Noodles (canned) - "Satisfactory; a bit sweet."

4. Tabatchnick Chicken Broth With Noodles & Dumplings (frozen) - "Watery, salty."

5. Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup (canned) - "Tastes canned, but familiar."

I'm partial to the homemade stuff myself, but Lord knows I've been known to indulge in Knorr's instant chicken soup, when I don't have the time or inclination. Curiously enough, Knorr's wasn't included in the article. Maybe they'll include it in a vegetable soup follow-up.
