Top Food Journalists - Grey Lady Out In The Cold
This weekend, the Association of Food Journalists presented their annual awards for the best and brightest. Oddly enough, the New York Times didn't make the grade in any category.
When it comes to NYers, they can only bring themselves to laud Pascale LeDraoulec. And, considering that I whole-heartedly agree with his recent positive review of Sue Torres' Suenos, I am inclined to give him a round of applause myself.
But, still, something's amiss. How can the AFJ completely ignore the glory that is the NYT's Dining In, Dining Out? The section consistently delivers compelling and appetizing columns, articles and recipes.
Is it possible that this award event has entered the policital fray usually associated with the Oscars or Emmys? If so, get ready for next year's ceremony to be featured in an all-out glamour foodie fest on the Food Network. Can't wait to see Mario Batali in a tuxedo jacket with cut-off shorts.
